Two things on this listing earn it a place. The clamp range is 0.4 to 2.4 in, the widest stated on this shelf, and it covers glass as well as wood — which matters because a screwed tray simply cannot be fitted to a glass top. And the tray is reversible: Cinati states the opening can face inward or outward, which is the difference between reaching a plug from the chair and walking round the desk to find it.

The build is welded and powder-coated rather than assembled, which is the construction this shelf’s certified European pair also uses, and the box includes four clips and six ties for the cables that do not fit inside it. The dimensions are published in full — 13.4 by 4.6 by 3.1 in — which is enough for a standard power strip and not much slack.

The published capacity is 10 lb, the lowest figure in this hub, against 11 lb and 15 lb on the two screw-mounted trays here. On a desk raised and lowered every day, the question is whether the clamp stays tight, and Cinati says only that the tray hangs on the frame and changes position easily. That is an argument for a clamp, not an answer about fatigue, and no listing on this shelf gives one.

What holds up, and what does not

Best for: A standing desk or a glass top, where nothing should be drilled and the tray may need to move.

Strengths

  • Clamps from 0.4 to 2.4 in, the widest stated range in this hub, including glass tops
  • No drilling, so it can be repositioned or taken to another desk
  • The opening mounts facing inward or outward, which decides whether you reach cables from the chair or from behind
  • Fully welded and powder-coated rather than bolted together
  • Anti-scratch pads on the clamp jaws, and 4 clips and 6 ties in the box

Compromises

  • A 10 lb capacity, the lowest published figure in this hub
  • 13.4 by 4.6 in takes a power strip but leaves little room for its slack
  • A clamp on a standing desk is the case this hub warns about — the listing does not say the clamp is rated for repeated height changes

What buyers ask us first

Can it clamp to a glass desk?

Cinati says so: the tray "can be hanged directly to desk frames and change its position easily as you like" and is "Excellent to install a clamp on any wood, glass, or any material on your desk", within a stated range of 0.4 to 2.4 in. Anti-scratch mats on the jaws are included for exactly that case. A glass top is the one surface a screw-mounted tray cannot use at all.

Which way should the opening face?

Cinati leaves it to you — "The opening of desk wire organizer can be mounted inward or outward of your desk as required." Facing inward, toward the chair, you can reach a plug while seated; facing outward, toward the back of the desk, nothing is visible from the front but a plug change means going round. No other tray on this shelf publishes the choice.
