This is the cheapest way to put something between your feet and a hard floor, and the listing is honest about what it is: a cushioned kitchen rug, sold for the kitchen, with the standing desk mentioned once among “kitchen, office, workstation, etc.”

The construction is PVC foam, 28 by 17.3 in and about half an inch (13 mm) thick — figures from the product page measurements, not the bullets — with a diamond texture molded into the underside to stop it traveling and a bevelled edge where it meets the floor. The surface is water resistant and cleans by wiping, vacuuming or sweeping. There is no foam density, no rebound figure and no weight.

Thickness is where this sits on the shelf. At 13 mm (0.51 in) it is among the thinnest mats in this hub: only the Art3d, at 12 mm, is thinner, and the other published figures run from 3/4 in (19 mm) to 1 in on the HEALEG. The two most expensive mats here, the Ergodriven Topos, publish no thickness at all. Thin is not automatically worse: a 13 mm (0.51 in) mat lies flat where a 25 mm (0.98 in) one is an obstacle, and it slides under a desk without a lip. It is simply less foam, and on a long standing session that is the figure that runs out.

What holds up, and what does not

Best for: A short standing session on a hard floor, or the kitchen, where thickness is not the point.

Strengths

  • The lowest price in this hub by a wide margin
  • Diamond-shaped texture on the underside to stop it sliding, with a bevelled edge against tripping
  • Water-resistant surface that wipes, vacuums or sweeps clean
  • Thin enough to lie flat under a chair or a door without catching

Compromises

  • At 13 mm (0.51 in) it is about half the thickness of the thickest mat in this hub (HEALEG, 1 in); only the Art3d, at 12 mm, is thinner
  • Published as a kitchen rug rather than a standing desk mat — the standing use is one line of the listing
  • No foam density, rebound or weight published
  • Creases from packaging have to be blown out with warm air, per the listing

What buyers ask us first

Is half an inch enough for a standing desk?

It depends how long you stand. The published thicknesses on this shelf run from 12 mm (the Art3d) to 25 mm (0.98 in), and thickness is what lets the foam compress under the heel rather than bottoming out onto the floor. For twenty minutes at a raised desk, 13 mm (0.51 in) is a real improvement on bare tile; for a three-hour standing session, the thicker mats in this hub are the ones built for it.

Why does it need warm air out of the packet?

Flattening the mat out of the packet. KitchenClouds states it plainly: "if creases are present upon unfolding, lay the kitchen rug flat" and blow warm air across them, which it says removes the folds quickly. It is the folded-packaging problem that two other listings in this hub address in opposite ways — one by rolling and asking for 24 hours, the other by refusing to fold the mat at all.
